This time of year, we become reflective to see if what we have gathered in the Spring and Summer are enough to take us through the long dark nights. When we look with gratitude at what we share in our spirit, we are better able to navigate the gateways presented in the upcoming Autumnal Season.

A time when our senses are heightened and honed by going within and taking the journey of deep spirituality. We investigate our beliefs and look for clues when we feel change is upon us. Gratitude and appreciation are the scythes of the darkness as we continue to gather the last of our harvest for the upcoming season.

We are planning to make it through the winter with whatever we gather. Spiritually, Mentally, Physically, Emotionally, and Energetically. We will be making candles to keep our lights bright and the way open.

WHAT IS THE EQUINOX?

The equinox is the point in time that the sun crosses the celestial equator. It is an astronomical event that happens at the exact same moment across the world but is converted to local time.

On the exact moment of the equinox, the sun shines directly on the equator before continuing its journey south or north, depending on the time of year. This definition also explains its name.

The word equinox is derived from Latin, meaning “equal night.” On each equinox, the sun shines directly on the equator and the length of day and night are said to more or less the same on the day that the equinox happens.

This also explains why the equinox is celebrated as a day of balance–day and night are approximately the same lengths on the equinox.
